Mendocino Wine RegionThe Mendocino County wine region is an approved American Viticultural Area (AVA) comprised of one of the northernmost wine grape regions in the state, situated just north of Sonoma County and roughly 90 miles north of San Francisco. This wine region possesses with two distinct climate zones separated by the Mendocino Range. The vineyards growing mostly white wine grape varieties are located on along the Navarro and Russian Rivers, while most of the red varieties are grown on the bench lands above.
