Finger Lakes Wine RegionThe Finger Lakes wine region is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located in Upstate New York. Its name comes from its four largest glacial lakes (Canandaigua, Keuka, Seneca, and Cayuga), which look like the fingers of a giant hand, and it is around these four lakes where the vast majority of the vineyards lie. Cayuga and Seneca Lakes each have their own AVAs within the Finger Lakes AVA. The Finger Lakes AVA is New York’s State’s largest wine growing region with over 11,000 acres of vineyards. There are now nearly 100 wineries in Finger Lakes AVA.
