Twenty-One and Main

Daniel Hoey, Publisher

During our recent tour of the Yadkin Valley Wine Region, we enjoyed an evening with Benny and Kim Myers, owners of Laurel Gray Vineyards, at a new restaurant in Elkin – Twenty-One and Main.  As we tasted wines with Benny and Kim during that day they spoke glowingly of the restaurant, and our expectations were high.

Our expectations were exceeded.

The building is charming – as the name suggests, it is right in the heart of historic downtown Elkin, and the exposed brick, original elevator and tasteful renovations make it at once elegant and also warm and inviting.  The wine bar upstairs serves as a more casual space but it similarly well-appointed.

When we arrived, Benny and Kim were waiting for us on the outdoor patio and we were warmly greeted by the owners, Matthew and Emily Morrison, Jeffrey Gibbs, who serves as Executive Chef and his fiance, Erika Bullock.  They told us a bit about their history as friends living in Charleston, South Carolina where they all nurtured a dream of partnering together to move to a smaller community and open a fine restaurant.  Their shared passion shines through every aspect of Twenty-One and Main.
