Divine Llama Vineyards Divine Llama Vineyards - Michael developed an interest in llamas and Tom had long dreamed of opening a winery; in 2006 they, along with their wives Julia and Patricia purchased 77 scenic acres in the Yadkin Valley AVA.
Hanover Park Vineyards Hanover Park Vineyards - The Heltons fell in love with old world wines and vineyards, and soon after they returned they invested in 23 acres of land and an abandoned farmhouse on the property dating from 1897.

Laurel Gray Vineyards - Benny’s ancestors came to the Swan Creek Region of the Yadkin Valley in 1773, and for ten generations the Myers have lived and worked in this beautiful, fertile area.

McRitchie Winery & Cedarworks - After succeeding in establishing Shelton, Sean and his wife Patty decided to take their dream one step further and create their own winery.  Their tasting room opened in May 2007.

Ragapple Lassie Vineyards Ragapple Lassie Vineyards - Linda King, winemaker for RagApple Lassie Vineyards began making wine over 35 years ago, first as an amateur (for which efforts she ultimately won awards), and then as the winemaker for three different wineries, all in different states.
RayLen Vineyards RayLen Vineyards - RayLen Vineyards was established in 1999 when Joe and Joyce Neely, inspired by a trip to Italy, acquired a 100 acre property in the Yadkin Valley of North Carolina.
Shadow Springs Vineyards Shadow Springs Vineyards - Shadow Springs was founded in January 2005 with the purchase of 47 acres of land in the Swan Creek section of the Yadkin Valley AVA; Swan Creek was established as its own AVA in May, 2008.
Shelton Vineyards

Shelton Vineyards - Charlie and Ed Shelton broke ground in 1999 on a 33,000 square foot winery building fronted by approximately 200 acres of vines on a property of almost 400 acres, making it the largest family owned estate winery in North Carolina.

Westbend Vineyards Westbend Vineyards - Prior to coming to Westbend, Mark had been in the wine industry in Long Island for 19 years. During the last few years of his tenure at one of the pioneers of the Long Island wine region, Mark developed a side career selling oak wine barrels.

Yadkin Valley Wine RegionFor many wine aficionados, “wine” and “North Carolina” do not belong in the same sentence.  If that’s true for you, think again.

I just returned from a trip to the Yadkin Valley in the northwest corner of North Carolina, and the energy that has been created over the past six years since the Yadkin Valley was designated an American Viticultural Area (AVA) was astonishing.  This is truly an up-and-coming wine region where significant investment is occurring and serious winemakers are learning how to make world-class wine from vineyards that were once largely tobacco and dairy farms.
