When the first wineries began to emerge in Marlborough in the 1970s, no one could have predicted the world-wide renown they and those who followed them would achieve, thanks to one of the most inspired pairings of a terroir and a varietal, in this case Sauvignon Blanc.  The hot sunny days coupled with cool nights lengthens the ripening period of the vines and, along with the soils, brings forth unique flavors.

New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region is like none other made in the world – its distinctive and eye-popping citrus characteristics make it instantly recognizable to wine drinkers who have learned that Sauvignon Blanc made from this region is its own animal.  To be sure, the region produces some world-class smooth Pinot Noirs and zesty Chardonnays as well as some interesting sparkling wines, but it is Sauvignon Blanc, widely considered to be without peer, that has made its reputation in the wine world.
